Brizay Residence

The kitchen garden at the back of the house was a constant eyesore for the resident, being frequently flooded due to soil compaction and lack of organic matter. Our first priority was to add biomass to the soil through mulch and fertility through a series of worm towers. After clearing some trees that were shading out much of the area, we planted out banana and papaya circles and low maintenance edibles to create a thriving food forest and a pollinator garden for the avid bird watcher.

Visible through the windows of the living area in the house, dragonflies and butterflies have made this natural pond their home. Flora and fauna have been specially selected with a focus on native species for an ecologically-balanced, self-cleaning pond.
